March 9 | 19:00 - 21:00 | Calvert 22 Bookshop | £5 + booking fee
Calvert 22 Foundation: Join us and Fontanka at the Calvert 22 Bookshop for an evening dedicated to Constructivist architecture and meet architect Alexei Ginzburg, grandson of Soviet architect Moisei Ginzburg.
Alexei will give insight into the Narkomfin, his grandfather’s 1929 masterpiece of Constructivism, and into tendencies in restoration of Constructivist architecture like the Narkomfin, Izvestia building, and others.
He will also present two books by Moisei Ginzburg that have recently been presented in English for the first time, including a facsimile publication of the landmark 1934 book Dwelling, which sheds light on the philosophy and theory of Soviet architecture and the significance of the Narkomfin.
Alexei will also be on hand for a Q&A with Will Strong, Programme Manager at Calvert 22 Foundation.
