Russian Activists Fight to Save Their Country’s Eiffel Tower

Near central Moscow stands the Shukhov Tower, a structure so beloved by Muscovites that it’s often referred to as Russia’s Eiffel Tower. Designed by Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov and built between 1919 and 1922, the imposing structure is an icon of the constructivism, a movement defined by the exploration of modern materials, which influenced many avant-garde thinkers.
